The newest trailer for Star Wars: Episode Nine – The Rise of Skywalker dropped this morning…
This trailer fully incorporates that theme as we see pivotal moments from all six previous films and I have to say, I love that they incorporated the Original and Prequel trilogies into this because, in the end, this is all one story about one family whose decisions have influenced the course of an entire universe.
For all of Kathleen Kennedy’s talk about being more inclusive the decision to put D.B. Weiss and David Benioff, with their ‘themes are for children‘ mindset and dodgy handling of women, lgbtq and POC characters; as well as Rian Johnson – whose decision to sideline the men of color and female leads to focus on the privileged, white male, mass murderer in The Last Jedi still rankles me on every level, especially with what’s going on in the real world; in charge of future Star Wars stories doesn’t exactly fill me with confidence.
Here’s hoping that Rise of Skywalker is the goodbye we, and the Skywalker family, deserve.
Star Wars: Episode Nine – The Rise of Skywalker will be in theaters on December 20, 2019
