Since October, we here at PCU have been bringing you information about the upcoming Nintendo Switch. While we know a fair bit about the console itself, there has been precious little information about any of the games…up until now.
It was recently revealed that Seasons of Heaven, an adventure game by French developer AnyArts will be one of the first Switch-exclusive games. Built using the Unreal 4 engine, the game has a beautiful art style to it, and the initial promotional shots that were distributed look pretty amazing.
In the game, the player will assume control of Yann, a young boy with Asperger Syndrome, and his French bulldog, Ani. Both characters are survivors of some mysterious global disaster, which nearly obliterated the human race. The game will follow the novel by the same name (by author Nico Augusto), and the book’s synopsis gives a good explanation as to what players can expect out of the story.
“In their struggles to survive on a stripped and barren Earth, they will learn that humans across the world literally died as a result of their own careless actions. Centuries of lying waste to the very land that sustained them was what would kill them in the end. [Seasons of Heaven] will take you on a journey with Yann, a young boy with Asperger’s syndrome and his faithful companion, Ani, a French bulldog who Yann is able to communicate with through telepathy. As you follow along on their journey you’ll have the opportunity to meet the rest of the major players and bear witness to the enlightenment of some and the demise of others.”
While little is known about the game as it is right now, AnyArts has said that they will be providing a closer look at Seasons of Heaven “soon”.
What do you think of this game, dear readers? Does the prospect of playing a character with Asperger Syndrome intrigue you? Do you feel that the quality of the screen shots are enough to make you want to get something like this for the Nintendo Switch? Let us know your thoughts!
