Game of Thrones S6: E4 Recap

We’re only four episodes in and it’s BANANAS!

Welcome PCU Fanatics to our weekly Game of Thrones Recap. The writers have been on it this season, only 4 episodes in and already so many deaths!  We’ve seen at least one WTF moment per episode, it’s been so nuts but that’s what we love about this show. Now if you missed last week’s episode fear not for we have the recap for you right here. So, without further ado, on with the Recap!

An Unwelcome Homecoming

Petyr Baelish has returned to the Vale,  much to the delight of Robin Arryn -Lord of the Vale- and the chagrin of Yohn Royce. When Royce questions Petyr about Sansa’s marriage, we see how much influence Petyr truly has on Robin.  Robin was willing to kill Yohn because he challenged Petyr, but he changed Robin’s mind and saved Yohn. Now, thanks to Petyr’s suggestion, Robin plans on marching to the Wall to retrieve Sansa Stark. From gathering info to manipulation no one is better than him and that’s why Petyr is my favorite character.

Theon Greyjoy finally makes it back to the Iron Islands only to receive a cold reception from his sister Yara. Can you blame her though? She did stage a full assault to retrieve Theon only to have him stay by Ramsay Bolton’s side as “Reek”. Honestly, I can see why she was icy toward him, but when he reveals his intention to make her ruler of the Iron Islands, Yara couldn’t help but warm up a bit to her brother.  If Theon is serious, this may be the greatest team up yet!

Just another day in King’s Landing

Margaery Tyrell, still imprisoned, gets a visit from High Sparrow, after they talk he allows Margaery to see her brother Loras. Loras been broken down by the “Sparrows” to the point that he doesn’t believe he will make it. At the Red Keep, Cersei and Tommen have a heart-to-heart about how to handle the Sparrows. Tommen wants to take caution because Margaery is still imprisoned, whereas Cersei wants to take the “Kill em’ All” approach. We finally see Tommen showing some wisdom as he is the only one to realize how dangerous the High Sparrow is, and noticing his mother’s dislike for Margaery.

Reunited and it feels so good!

Jon and Sansa finally see each other after like 5 seasons! Sansa and her party ride to the Wall seeking her brother’s help in reclaiming Winterfell from Ramsay Bolton. Unfortunately, she finds a reluctant Jon Snow who wants nothing to do with fighting. Until a letter of challenge comes from Ramsay daring Jon to come to Winterfell, which is just enough motivation for Jon. This is the big test for Jon Snow, if he can’t bring the people of the North together to fight Bolton, how will he bring people together to fight the true threat of the White Walkers.

Where in the World is Daenerys Targaryen?

In Meereen we see Tyrion making deals with the slave owners in order to keep the peace. Yet, the former slaves want nothing to do with these slavers, and would rather fight than make any deals. Tyrion has been put in the middle of a rock and a hard place. He knows how untrustworthy the slave owners are, yet he also has to win the trust of the former slaves. How will Tyrion handle this powder keg waiting to blow? In Vaes Dothrak, Jorah and Daario finally catch up to Daenarys ready to extract her, however instead of leaving, Daenerys comes up with the most WTF moment of the night. As all the Khals meet to decide her fate,  Daenarys kills them by setting the hut (and herself) on fire. She, of course, emerges from the flames unscathed and the Dothraki people now bow to their one true Khaleesi.

Game of Thrones does it again and I give tonight’s episode 3.5 Khals out of 5. What did you think of tonight’s episode? Let us know in the comments below, and for more Game of Thrones news and recaps stay with Pop Culture Uncovered.
