Black Lives Matter
We, the owners and staff of PCU wanted to voice our solidarity with those fighting to require America to be true to its ideals. People throughout this country, and around our planet, have risked their freedom and health to make this country a more perfect union, and address the systemic violence and oppression of African Americans. While we reject violence as a means of protest, we are reminded that while businesses can be restored and people made whole, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, George Floyd and far too many others, have been taken from their loved ones forever. We offer our condolences to their families and friends, and pray for their healing. However, this is not a time for just prayer, it is time for those who believe in the necessity of a more just society to take action.

Ahmaud Arbery; Tony McDade; Philando Castile; Atatiana Jefferson; Sandra Bland; Aiyana Stanley-Jones; Manuel Ellis
PCU is a African American and Latinx media company. We have done our best over our history to advocate for social justice for African Americans and other oppressed communities. We will continue to use our platform to explore these and other social justice issues and their relationship to pop culture. But that’s not all we plan on going.
PCU will be making donations to the Bail Project and Color of Change and encourage you to do the same or seek out other ways of helping. While we all may not be able to protest, there is something we all can do to help.
Police brutality is inexorably connected to white supremacy and systemic racism. Not all police are bad, but there are too many in too many departments that seek not to police communities of color, but to occupy them. If America is to be all that it should we must recommit ourselves to combating these evils. Otherwise a nation, with liberty, and justice for all will be forever beyond our grasp.
We hope you’ll help, and we’ll continue to do our best to help.
With solidarity and love,
PCU
