Con Brew: Ocean City Comic Con 2018
Ocean City Comic Con entered its 2nd year, and it was fantastic. Thrown by the gang at PLB Comics, the con recently moved to the Roland E. Powell Convention Center; and despite being in a bigger space, it never lost its intimacy. Somehow, with more vendors, more panels, and more con-goers, this Con still felt like a gathering of old friends and a chance to make new ones. Artists that I’d never seen before, as well as ones I’d met previously, all had a space and looked to be having a genuinely good time themselves.
On top of that, you have the joy of experiencing Ocean City without the mass of tourists that descend on it from all over the country between April and October — and that’s not counting the food! From the insanely good crepes of Bayside Skillet, the utterly decadent Liquid Assets (pricey but worth it), the beer and bacon jam of OC Brewery and, of course, Fisher’s Popcorn, you will get a wide taste of Maryland’s finest food and wonderful service to boot.
This con is a little gem, and hopefully it’ll continue to grow (without getting too big, though). Below are photos of just some of the cosplay of the con, so please join us next year as we venture “Down the Ocean, Hon!”.
