Bethesda at E3 2017: Predictions

What’s @BethesdaStudios up to at E3? Let’s find out!

In keeping with PCU’s other articles on E3 2017 (Playstation and Nintendo), here’s our look at Bethesda:

bethaaBethesda released an adorable poster about all the things they are planning to talk about at E3 which helps us figure out what will be there and what won’t.

After careful analysis of the poster, it’s clear they’re going to talk about Prey, Dishonored, Elder Scrolls, Doom, Quake, and Fallout. There’s also two spots that are “Under Construction,” which means two new potential IPs?

Since Prey and Dishonored 2 are still fairly new,01_82 I bet they’re going to announce DLCs for both. I think Prey’s DLC will include new alien powers that you can then exploit on, hopefully, new maps. Raphael Colantonio, their Creative Director, has already said that “It’s impossible to see all the alien powers in one playthrough.”  So their DLCs will have be something fun and exciting to get gamers coming back to it long after other games are out.

Dishonored 2 will probably be focused on Emily Kaldwin. We know that the working title for the Dishonored DLC is “Black Sparrow” and that name has been used to describe Emily Kaldwin, especially in the novel, Dishonored: The Corroded Man. So, all this evidence points to an adventure either as Emily or for Emily (much like the game itself).

maxresdefaultQuake’s spot will be for Quake Champions and will include a release date for the game as well as pre-order package options (i.e. Collectibles, action figures, posters, etc) for those who choose to pay instead of getting the free option. I imagine some gameplay will also show its multiplayer capabilities and give us an idea of what other arenas there will be. Please comment below if you’re one of the lucky few who played the Beta! I’d love to hear your thoughts on the game so far and how it compares to the original.

Fallout and Doom will get some VR treatment and release dates for both. With the success of Fallout Shelters, I can only imagine how crazy gamers will get for a Fallout VR game. It’s also been confirmed that a playable version will be on the showroom floor. As for Doom, can you imagine how much fun it would be to fully immerse yourself on Mars battling demons?

I’m hoping they’ll announce a new Elder Scrolls game, but that’s a pipe dream as Pete Hines, Bethesda’s Vice President, said that they aren’t even working on it right now. So it might just be the announcement for the Nintendo Switch edition of Skyrim with gameplay footage to see how it will translate. There could be a new DLC to keep the rabid fans pacified too, but that’s because I like to dream big when it comes to the Elder Scrolls series.

As far as the two mysterious IPs, I’m thinking Wolfenstein is one of them and possibly Evil Within 2. I’m hoping there will be a brand new IP though. I love Bethesda and feel like they have the resources to add a new attraction to Bethesdaland. However, as this isn’t a new console year (not including the Scorpio), it would make sense for Bethesda to hold on to any new IPs until the next generation console comes out.

The Bethesda E3 Showcase will start at 7pm PDT on June 11 (10am on June 12, Malaysia time).
