Well. That escalated quickly.
Cave Carson picks up where our previous issue left off: with Cave investigating the warning he received about EBX. He’s right to do so as their CEO Paul is A: up to no good and B: apparently has never seen the movie Taken and therefore doesn’t immediately realize that he’s about to get his feelings hurt in the most awesome way.
This issue ratchets up the action and fills in the background of our character while laying out future plot points and doing some impressive world building. We find out more regarding Cave’s deceased wife, Eileen; see Wild Dog in action; learn that Chloe’s skills were not just for the camera and find out why Cave is like the Wu Tang Clan. It’s pretty damn boss and had me cackling with glee.
Rivera and Way’s epic storyline is firmly and gloriously supported by Michael Avon Oeming’s art, Nick Filardi’s colors and Clem Robins’ letters. Yes, I said letters. Usually in a comic the letters are there, neither adding nor subtracting from the overall storyline/artwork, but in CCHACE that is not the case. Clem Robins’ lettering is practically a character in its own right and it enhances the story making everything even more exciting.
This book is just damn good guys, you should pick it up immediately.
5 out of 5 surprise bombs.
