Harry Shearer to depart The Simpsons after 26 years

The voice of Ned Flanders, Principal Skinner,  and Mr. Burns will be departing the Simpsons.

Actor Harry Shearer who have voiced these characters for 26 seasons tweeted this news on Thursday.

In one of his tweets he stated that this came about “”because I wanted what we’ve always had: the freedom to do other work.”
Apparently the news was delivered by  the lawyer of executive producer James L. Brooks, who’d said: “Show will go on. Harry will not be part of it, wish him the best.”

Shearer also stated : “Thanks, Simpsons fans, for your support.”

Fox has given the animated series another two seasons and of course as yet has not announced if Shearer’s voice will be replaced or if the characters  will still be a part of the show.

Personally, the show won’t be the same without his touch to his characters
