That was a gut wrenching episode. That could’ve been the 17th episode and it would’ve ruined me. It kills you as the 3rd.

Belle 
They are absolutely not playing around this year. So, let’s just get into it:
Rowena was so well written and her death made so much sense both for the character and canon that it actually messed me up far more than Dany’s death on Game of Thrones. This is how you build to a major character death on a show people.

Paul
It was far more profound than anything in GOT’s last season. I was getting misty eyed in the Sam/Rowena scene.

Belle 
It was honestly everything we should have had for the Dany/Jon scene: that feeling of knowing it was inevitable but being wrecked nonetheless and heartbroken for both characters. I burst into tears the minute I saw Rowena get that look in her eyes and then started scream crying when she came out of the crypt. I just kept saying ‘no, no, no, no.’

Paul 
Good on the writers, final seasons can be trainwrecks. They are doing it right so far.  There was a small hiccup with Kevin and even that wasn’t too terrible. It’s amazing how far Rowena has come, they have done a masterful job of steering her from a stone cold villainess to an anti-hero.

Belle
And showing her clear love for the boys over the course of the years.

 

Paul 
Redemption is always the central theme…

Belle
On this show more than most. Though I’m concerned with the whole ‘we can’t fight fate’ prophecy thing with Rowena. Though, in a way I like it? Like she knew it was going to happen but she chose how she was going to go out.

Paul
Always a woman’s prerogative and honestly I’m okay with a melancholy ending. A happily ever after would feel forced.

Belle
Oh, I know. I definitely don’t think this show is going to end well. You called it: no one is getting out of this alive or emotionally intact.

Paul 
Not even Chuck. Even god gets the reaper treatment.

Belle
I am just so emotionally wrecked and that’s not even getting into the mess with Cas and Dean… 

 

I rewatched the episode yesterday and I was saying to my mom that they’re definitely playing Cas and Dean like they’re parents who have lost a child due to one of them screwing up and the whole marriage is falling apart. It doesn’t help that Cas lying to Dean has now resulted in yet another member of their family of choice dying.

Paul
Yes, that’s exactly the situation. Both are so wounded that they can’t do anything right by each other now.

Belle
Or that Dean is so angry he’s not listening to or paying attention to what Cas, who is clearly not right -physically or mentally-, is saying…or not saying.

Paul
They need couples counseling. And the only people they could talk to, like Sam, Gabriel or Rowena, people who would get it and be able to talk them both around their stubbornness are either dead or so messed up themselves they can’t help.

Belle 
This is the time they need to be united and it’s all falling apart and it hurts to watch it…

Book of Letters
After all that trauma hell’s still not completely sealed and more than a few things escaped. Like Michael!Adam…

Watching ‘Jack’ die was just friggin’ awful.

Castiel is spiraling into depression and rage like Dean after John died. Watch his face when he calls Belphegor a liar…

Ugh. One off monster episode in tomorrow.

Belle
I truly hope not, not this year…

Paul
Well the preview of the next episode is definitely monster of the week.

Belle
I really hope it turns out like Mystery Spot where it seems like a MOW and it’s actually really important to the overall plot.

Paul
Oh I hope so too. I want all meaty plot this season. I love the MOW in the past but with the countdown clicking I ain’t got time for that shit

 

Belle
Friggin’ Same
