‘Shadow of the Tomb Raider’ Has Been Teased

Lara Croft fans, here is your moment of hype. The teaser trailer for the upcoming Shadow of the Tomb Raider, the third game in the rebooted tale of the intrepid Lara Croft, dropped onto the interwebs this morning. The game itself  will be launched simultaneously on Playstation 4, Xbox One, and Windows PC in September.

The teaser displays everything we fans of the series have come to love about the Tomb Raider franchise: henchmen to defeat, rock climbing, and Lara’s recently ubiquitous bow and arrow. We also get a glimpse at what appears to be Mayan ziggurats. That, plus the clips of Lara running through the jungle lead us to believe that the setting for the game will be somewhere in South or Central America.

Now, we talked about the potential of this reveal back in December of 2017. At the time, some of us were a bit skeptical as to whether or not this upcoming title would be too much of a Tomb Raider glut on the market (especially with the lackluster release of the recent movie). Today’s teaser trailer, however, is starting to set some of us at ease. Developer Square Enix looks to be pushing the graphical capabilities of the PS4 and Xbox One systems to their utmost, and it’s a good bet that we can expect a frenetically-paced game, with lots of action and epic views.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider is also set to be the “climactic finale of Lara’s origin story”, according to a leak broken by Polygon yesterday.

As is the case with teaser trailers, this was of course released to announce the formal announcement. The teaser informs viewers that April 27th will be a “full reveal” of the game, which is said to include all of the pre-order incentives and SKUs. There’s also a countdown on the official Tomb Raider website leading up to the game’s cross-platform release on September 14th, 2018.
