The trailer for the long-awaited Venom movie is finally out… and there’s actually not a whole lot of Venom. I dig Tom Hardy like most other human beings, but the trailer looks like it could be for a whole lot of other action movies.

When your whole selling point for a Venom movie is the big steroid ink monster from space, you may want to show at least even a tiny little bit of love to excite the audience. Either way, it’s not a great first showing for a movie that’s already looking rushed to capitalize off of Spider-Man: Homecoming’s success.

Hopefully the time between now and October will provide some reasons for that assessment to change.
