The upcoming Star Wars prequel about the galaxy’s favorite roguish smuggler has had its title announced, it seems. However, it almost feels as if the creative team behind the film didn’t really take into consideration how much ribbing they would get from the ever-present internet…
In a Twitter video by director Ron Howard, the director tells fans that the cast and crew were wrapping production, and that he wanted to thank everyone involved for their hard work. He then revealed that the title of the film would be Solo: A Star Wars Story.
Following the reveal of the film’s title, Twitter of course exploded with jokes, likening the name to a certain beverage container used at parties.
Still others reminded fans that the choice of title could have gone even further south:
Granted, it may be that the spinoff movies (like Rogue One) are all following a similar naming convention, but this feels a bit on the nose. One would hope, with the amount of creativity that exists in the Star Wars universe, that there would be someone out there who could come up with a title that has a bit more oomph to it. However, it is what it is for now. Fans will just have to wait & see if the film’s content impresses more than its name.
Solo: A Star Wars Story is set for release in 2018, and will tell the story of a young Han Solo (played by Alden Ehrenreich), and how he came to be the dashing character we met so many years ago when he was first portrayed by Harrison Ford.
