‘Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice’ – A New Trailer, and a Digital-only release
We’re just over one week away from the release of Ninja Theory’s Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice, and we’re getting a new gameplay trailer for this gorgeous-looking, and deeply psychological title.
The new trailer, which shows off all in-game footage, gives gamers a glimpse into the hellish world that Senua will face on her deeply personal quest through the story. The game promises to showcase a rich world, inspired by Celtic and Norse mythology, blended with the nightmarishly twisted underworld that has been formed by Senua’s hallucinations following a traumatic experience in her life. This trailer for Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice will give players a good look at the intricate and beautifully done facial animations, as well as the gorgeous visuals in the game – both of which developer Ninja Theory has been well known for.
Along with the trailer, comes the formal announcement that Ninja Theory has also optimized the game for play on the PlayStation 4 Pro. This means, that when launching the game in their consoles, gamers will get the option to select either enhanced resolution, or a higher (60 fps) frame-rate. Those who get the game for their PC will get the additional bonus of an uncapped frame-rate, 21:9 ultra-widescreen support, and 4K resolution.
One of the great things about this title’s release, is that while Ninja Theory has collaborated with big publishers in the past (Sony and Capcom, to name a couple), they are developing and publishing Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice on their own. Additionally, since the game is being released in a digital-only format, the developer didn’t have to spend more money on disk-printing and retail seller payment costs. This not only keeps costs down for gamers, but still allows Ninja Theory to develop a AAA-caliber game.
As you may have noticed, if you’ve followed us for any length of time over the past year, we here at PCU are pretty excited about Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice. With its unique examination of mental illness, its amazing visual style, and visceral gameplay, this is definitely going on our list as a must-play!
Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice releases in digital-only format on August 8th, 2017 for PS4 and PC. Gamers who pre-order the title for PS4 can unlock a dynamic theme, while PC pre-orders will receive an exclusive digital comic short.
Sweet! The graphics look amazing! I really feel like I deserve something like this after suffering through Mass Effect Andromeda’s terrible facial glitches!
