The Sartorial Geek: The style of Spider-Man comes home.
When Captain America Civil War came out a few years ago one of the biggest highlights was seeing that Spider-Man was finally going to become a part of the Marvel cinematic universe (MCU). The main hope was that with Peter Parker’s inclusion MCU that the fans would finally get the Spider-Man movie that they’ve wanted to see for years. Now with the release of Spider-Man: Homecoming just around the corner, I decided to spotlight some really awesome Spider-Man related accessories. These are designed to accent your look but to also have some fun with it.
A good necktie is key to any suit and tie combination. While the fabric is key to its durability, the design is the most important part when it comes to the overall aesthetic of any look. I’ve personally never been a fan of print ties as I feel that they are a big distraction when you are trying to go for a more professional look. These Spider-Man inspired ties offer very muted designs while still bringing a web slinging fun to your ensemble.
I feel that bow ties can be a bit louder than a traditional necktie when it comes to its design. This is because I feel that bow ties are a bit more playful in nature than a traditional tie. These bow ties are a bit bolder in design but still convey a prominent sense of wall crawler style.
Cufflinks are an essential (and required) item if you choose to wear a French cuff style shirt. I’ve always been a “True Believer” that cufflinks should be fun and exciting. These Spider-Man cufflinks certainly fit the bill.
While not always thought about when we talk about accessories, tie bars should always be a part of the conversation. Much like cufflinks, tie bars should add some extra fun and excitement to your look.
Lapel pins can take many forms. Whether it’s a simple pin or as a boutonnière, a lapel pin can totally change any outfit. These lapel pins are emblematic of the sort of styles that you have to choose from.
It goes without saying that a strong sock game it required when you are trying to be a dapper as possible. Socks are supposed to be fun and meant to standout. The whether it’s the prominent use of Spidey’s logo or the exclusive use of his traditional blue and red color scheme, socks like these can add the flair that your style.
A good blazer can be dressed up for the boardroom and dressed down for a night out on the town. Unlike the other items in this article, this is directly from Spider-Man: Homecoming. This yellow Midtown High School is worn in the film by Peter Parker himself. With the blazer you get to own a piece of the MCU and be stylish at the same time.
The character of Peter Parker isn’t regarded as a style icon in the way that Tony Stark in the Marvel Universe as Parker epitomize the geek in all of us. Parker may be a web slinging geek, but even the geek in all of us can be stylish with a bit of Spidey on our side.
