Natalie Portman in DC for Jackie Red Carpet event
On December 1st, 2016 at the Newseum in Washington DC, there was a red carpet event for Jackie starring Natalie Portman. It was a good opportunity to hear from not only her, but the writers and producers as well about how important this movie is after over 50 years since JFK’s assassination. All had a lot to say about the creative process of going through old newsreels and interviews to try and fill in some of the blanks about what it must have been like for Jackie to deal with such a grief that few must bear.
The movie is not a standard biopic of her entire life but an intimate look at 4 days following JFK’s assassination. Portman told interviewers about the intensity it took prepping for the role in such a short time. She also talked about how she and her dialect coach watched the White House tour tapes featuring Mrs. Kennedy over and over again so the character would become natural to her. So, no surprises here if this movie gets nominated for an Oscar.
The movie opens in limited release on December 2, 2016 and worldwide on December 9, 2016.
