All good things must come to an end.
After 9 years, Finn the Human and Jake the Dog’s adventures will be over in 2018. Comic book Resources broke the news earlier and we also found out according to them.
Cartoon Network promises new episodes, miniseries, specials and more, bringing “Adventure Time” to “142 half-hours of content.”
In the time that it’s been on, it’s spawned a comic book series, a slew of video games, Adventure Time themed clothing and a Lego set. There was a large cult following from kids to adults as well.
The show follows the adventures of a boy named Finn (voiced by Jeremy Shada) and his best friend and adoptive brother Jake (voiced by John DiMaggio)—a dog with the magical power to change shape and size at will. Finn and Jake live in the post-apocalyptic Land of Ooo.
The creator Pendleton Ward had this to say about his project:
Adventure Time was a passion project for the people on the crew who poured their heart into the art and stories. We tried to put into every episode something genuine and telling from our lives, and make a show that was personal to us, and that had jokes too! I’m really happy that it connected with an audience for so long. It’s a special thing, I think.
No word yet on if there will be any spin-offs for the myriad of characters that have appeared on the show over the years.
Adventure Time, you will be missed.
