‘South Park: Fractured But Whole’ delayed until 2017

Back in January, some of us here at PCU brought you a list of games to which we were really looking forward. One of Harry’s picks, was South Park: The Fractured But Whole. Well, much to Harry’s chagrin, it seems that Ubisoft has announced that the game will be delayed until the first quarter of 2017.

According to a short post on Ubisoft’s blog page yesterday, the dev team wants to ensure that “the game experience meets the high expectations of fans” and they feel that “the additional time will help them achieve this goal”. The game was initially due to release on December 6th, 2016.

A sort of sequel to the events of Stick of Truth, the story in The Fractured But Whole will see the kids of South Park, Colorado becoming role-playing superheroes once again. This time, however, the boys are split into 2 groups after a disagreement over Cartman’s planned film franchise. Cartman’s team is called “Coon and Friends”, while their rivals (“Freedom Pals”) want their own franchise. The fight ignites a Civil War-esque fight, with the player controlling The New Kid again (this time, however, the New Kid can be male or female).

What are your thoughts about the delay, dear readers? Do you agree with Ubisoft’s decision, or were you really hoping to play this game before the end of 2016?
