Back on July 21st, we brought you a first look at Netflix’s upcoming Luke Cage series. Well, now it looks like the official trailer has been released (keep your eyes open for a neat little nod to Cage’s original headpiece at about the 22-second mark).
Judging from the trailer alone, it seems like this look at the Luke Cage story might delve more into the titular character’s motivation, and give audiences a look at his internal struggle between wanting to keep his life quiet vs. protecting the city of Harlem & those he loves.
Created by Cheo Hodari Coker (also known for Notorious, Southland, and NCIS: Los Angeles), and with a great soundtrack, and some fantastic acting from lead actor Mike Colter, Frankie Faison as “Pop”, the beautiful Rosario Dawson as “Claire Temple”, as well as the sinister tone of Mahershala Ali’s “Cornell Stokes”, Luke Cage looks like it’s shaping up to be the next big thing on Netflix’s list of Marvel properties.
The fight scenes look amazing, the dialogue between Luke and Pop is deep & meaningful, and the tension is set high with Stokes’s intimidating nature. I think, that if the writing holds out on this show, that it is going to be an amazing series.
I don’t know about you, dear readers, but I will definitely be checking this one out.
