Containment S1:E4 Recap

It’s all about the couples in this episode, the weakest so far, of Containment.

Containment; The CW

With Silence and Tears

Love Makes You Stupid

With everyone inside the cordon cut off from the outside world, Xander becomes desperate to see Teresa. This leads to him to doing a series of idiotic things that, I guess, are supposed to make him seem like the Romeo to her Juliet but end up making him seem reckless at best. This is especially true when, after he breaks the cordon, he enters a home, unmasked and gloved, of some infected then goes to see Teresa, potentially exposing her and the baby.

Try Walking In My Shoes

Xander is able to break the cordon with Leo’s help who spends the episode pushing Lex’s buttons and generally being a dick. While I get that he wants Lex to not just blindly follow orders there are ways of going about it that don’t endanger the lives of everyone involved, but for the second episode in a row Leo only gives a damn about what Leo wants and doesn’t think about how his actions will affect others. This is exemplified when he sends Xander to the aforementioned home, the one belonging to his friends who were feeding him information about what was happening inside the cordon, knowing that at least one of them was showing signs of exposure. Leo gives no thought to putting this kid, and by default everyone Xander interacts with, in danger because he had to know how his friends were doing. Much like Klaus, it’s this kind of behavior that makes him genuinely annoying even if he may be right.

Where There’s Light

Only one couple comes out of this episode feeling real and that’s Jana and Lex. I have to say, I had my doubts about them but between Jana straight up being MacGyver and Lex staying on task to protect everyone, despite it ripping him apart that Jana is within the cordon, I ship it. Hard. These two feel real and if we must have a romantic subplot I prefer it be focused on them.

Status Report

  • The less said about Jake and Katie the better.
  • Cannerts continues to be classy af.
  • Claudia Black isn’t in this episode and it suffers for it greatly. The woman is dynamite, don’t be wasting her massive acting ability and charisma, show.
