My Little Pony: FiM Season 6 Episode 6
We can all agree that making friends sometimes isn’t easy, especially when you are in a new place and maybe have reputation for not being the nicest pony. Starlight Glimmer has run into that exact problem when she is tasked by Twilight Sparkle to make a new friend to bring to a formal dinner with Princess Celestia. Naturally Starlight begins her journey of finding a new friend for tomorrow evening’s dinner by strolling around Ponyville. Pinkie Pie has a great idea to try to match up Starlight with Mrs. Cake but unfortunately that ended up not being a match. After unsuccessful attempts to make new friendships with Big Mac, Fluttershy’s furry friends, and Rainbow’s suggestion of Spitfire from the Wonderbolts Starlight is feeling pretty down about herself. Her ongoing fear of being judged after the things she had done in the last season continuously haunt her. Is there any other pony you can think of that also is magically powerful and has done some shady things? YOU GUESSED IT! The Great and Powerful Trixie is back in action when she and Starlight Glimmer run into each other at the spa.
For the first time Starlight has run into another pony whose story is similar to her own. It is evident as the viewer that you are feeling a bit uneasy during their transactions, because deep down we are doing exactly what Twilight does when she finds out who Starlight is planning on bringing to the dinner – judging. We are just waiting for Trixie to do what Trixie does, which is to manipulate to get her way. Starlight Glimmer makes sure to point out to Twilight Sparkle that judging someone due to things they have done in the past is not fair especially when they are trying to change. This is an important lesson not only for Twilight, but also the viewer. Every pony has done something they aren’t proud of, but we should allow them to make prove that they have learned from their mistakes. Twilight attempts to steer Starlight away from Trixie and tries to pair her with Dj Pon3 and some other minor characters. Naturally, Starlight becomes upset at Twilight for not giving Trixie a chance and that she felt as if Twilight still had a lot of reservations towards Starlight herself.
Needless to say, after some shocking truths come to fruition Starlight becomes disappointed due to Trixie’s actions towards her. She feels used and embarrassed for falling for Trixie’s tricks, when finally Trixie realizes that for the first time she finally found a true friend in Starlight. Just another pony with a sketchy past, who understands what it feels like to be ostracized for having made some bad choices. All is well, that ends well when Trixie admits to truly caring for Starlight as a friend.
Every pony, at some point or another, has maybe said things out of anger or frustration which they immediately regret stating. One has to remember that during those times it’s okay to step a hoof back and take a deep breath, before answering a question that might upset you. Think before you speak, and remember you never know who may be listening.
