Where are you from originally: Seat Pleasant, MD
How long you have been cosplaying: 3 years

I didn’t know cosplay was a thing until about 3 years ago. I would credit my mom as the one that got me started when I was a little girl. She would dress me up during Halloween and I would have a great time all dressed. As I got older, the costumes just got more dramatic or a little bit ‘extra’ for Halloween. Once I found out about cosplaying, it was like a new world had opened up for me.

2. What do you do when you aren’t cosplaying?
I do IT work for a local hospital. I have a few crafty hobbies. I like to crochet, make jewelry, and items out of duct tape.

3. What costumes have provided the biggest challenge and rewards so far and why?
My most challenging costume is my Lady Thor outfit. I have to get dressed from the bottom up and it really doesn’t allow for me to drive in it. My most rewarding costume so far has been my Wonder Woman outfit. She is one of my favorite comic characters. I didn’t want to cosplay her in public until I could put together a costume that I thought would be worthy of her greatness.
4. What is the best advice you would give a POC (Person of color) person new to cosplaying?
The best advice that I can give it to just do it and have fun with it. As you do it more and more and go to functions around other cosplayers, you’ll start to learn tricks to putting together outfits and feel more confident in moving forward with doing more and more cosplay.
5. What is one thing the cosplaying community can do better when it comes to dealing with each other?
The one thing that I think can be done is to stop judging each other. Just because someone didn’t put together a costume the same way that you would have, doesn’t mean that their costume isn’t great. Cosplay is meant to be fun and exciting, not to be judged and/or bullied.
