Culturally Speaking Review: Ansatsu Kyoushitsu (Assassination Classroom) Ch.175 “Lost Time”

Written and illustrated by Matsui Yuusei

With the battle between Koro-Sensei and the God of Death comes to a close. What lies ahead for Class-E after one of their own is knocking on death’s door.

Matsui Yuusei brings a lot of emotion and skills in this chapter of Assassination Classroom. The story is good and seeing the past memories between Koro-Sensei and God of Death is touching. God of Death wanted to be more than just a student to Koro-Sensei but went down his own path that led him to this. After their battle comes to an end, Koro-Sensei pulls out some major medical skills to save Kayano. Even throughout battle against Yanagisawa and God of Death, he wanted to protect his students at all costs. The pacing is handled well and unique skills are shown by Koro-Sensei.  I loved the emotional scenes and the comedy that transpires with the operation.

The chapter has a theme of learning from your mistakes and not repeating them. When you look back at the history between Koro-Sensei and God of Death, he was one of the mistakes that he had to correct. The timely operation makes you look back at the time Koro-Sensei had with Aguri and how he wasn’t able to save her, but this time, he didn’t waste time-saving one of his students. This was a perfect chapter of this manga, especially if you’ve been following this series.

Matsui Yuusei does a great job with drawing this chapter and show the wear and tear of battle on Koro-Sensei. The operation on Kayano was something else. Seeing her get pieced back together by the use of his tentacles look amazing and the expressions on everyone’s face is surprising. I really do love the inking in this issue and the way certain objects shine in the scenes. I don’t have any complaints about the art all.

This was an emotional and perfect chapter to Assassination Classroom. I can’t wait to see what happens in the next chapter.
