Anime Review: Ajin

Whoa! I have never seen a first episode like this before! What just happened? I’m not entirely sure if I just turned on Toonami back in the 90s, and saw a great anime fight scene in the middle of an episode, or what. I did not expect the first episode to start off this way.
Alright, let me rewind a bit. When you get ready to watch the first episode of Ajin, be ready; get nice and comfortable. I recommend getting your food and everything! Settle in, because this anime start offs with a gun fight. The first 3 minutes of this anime is all action!
The story synopsis is this: we live in a world where there are super humans known as Ajins. Ajins can not die. These specimens are rare and in high demand with the government. Anyone who turns in an Ajin is rewarded heavily, so they say.
In the first episode, you are introduced to Kei, our main hero as well as his childhood friend, Kai. Kei so happens to find out he is an Ajin, the whole episode hints this throughout the beginning. Kei is now on the run from the government who wants to capture him for experimental purposes.
The art style of this anime feels like a more detailed RWBY, while giving it a video game presence. The angles the artists’ drew in certain scenes is pretty amazing and feels almost like you are playing a first person game at times. The details in the graphics and images makes this anime intriguing; making you feel like they utilize different media.
I really can’t get over this first episode as it was gory, action packed, and made my heart thump the entire time! I can’t wait for the next episode.
Highly recommend this 4.5 out of 5!
