The Groovy Grab Bag 12/29/15

Hello Boys and Girls, coming to you after Christmas as always is the Groovy Grab Bag and boy do we have a big week coming along. As always, please feel free to throw your own thoughts and pop culture consumption into the comments section below, or on my twitter. Now let the games begin!

Comics:
Amazing Spider-Man #5
Mighty Thor #2
New Avengers #4
Transformers Vs G.I. Joe #10

This week was relatively sparse for obvious reasons. All very good books, and I’m glad I decided to get caught up on Mighty Thor. There aren’t enough good things to say about it. While the series could coast on the writing between the premise and the energy Jason Aaron has always brought to his run on Thor, Russell Dauterman is something else entirely. While it’s hard to follow up on an artist as talented as Esad Ribic who created such a definitive look and feel to the character, Dauterman has more than stepped up to the challenge with Jane Foster’s adventures as Thor. It really helps to have a story that’s been so expansive from the get-go as well, but for anyone that’s been looking for a new comic to try, this one should definitely top your list.

Television:
Luther
I’m glad Luther is back. I only started watching a couple months ago, but man I am glad it’s back. While Series 3 left very little room for the character to return, Season 4 thankfully puts him back in a position to continue while honoring those previous 3 seasons. I won’t go too much into the context of the story, but Luther is as much a force of nature as ever. While Idris Elba may be a bit too large for television now, here’s hoping he and Neil Cross return to Luther in some form. Maybe even a movie perhaps?

Anyway, that’s all I have for today. I do apologize for the lack of content, it’s been a bit of a busy week with the holidays. But regardless, I look forward to seeing you all next year, Happy New Year y’all.
