How long you have been cosplaying: I have been cosplaying for 4 years now

1. Who or what inspired you to cosplay?

The thing that inspired me to Cosplay was the joy I felt dressing up as a character for Halloween. Loved brainstorming ideas for who or what to be. Happy to find a ways to broadcast that love not just in October.

2. What do you do when you aren’t cosplaying?

Outside of cosplaying I enjoy watching anime and writing fanfics. I am also working as a cafeteria supervisor for a DC hospital.

3. What costumes have provided the biggest challenge and rewards so far and why?

The biggest challenge was Drax the destroyer because it was my first time working with body paint. I was super nervous but I got featured on Marvel’s website after doing the Guardians of the Galaxy group picture. Helped me feel it was all worth it and eager to do more.

4. What is the best advice you would give someone new to cosplaying?

Some advice I would give someone new to cosplay is keep at it! If you imagine a character a certain way then bring that to life. Don’t stop having fun dressing up as this or that. You never know what epic memories will come out of it.

5. What is one thing the cosplaying community can do better when it comes to dealing with each other?

One thing the cosplay community could do better is remember that we all started somewhere. Now I know as a community we are always getting better but there are still stories about people having bad cosplay experiences due to bullying. Hope one day that becomes a distant memory.
