Present to the Past or Future?

Mark Millar gives us the story of Corbin Quinn and Danny Reilly, two scientific geniuses that work to make time travel accessible while the world is watching it unfold.

I really loved this first issue of this title. Mark Millar knows how to make a first impression. The characters in the issue really feel like a mix of Reed Richards and Johnny Storm, venturing into the great unknown of time travel but at the same time we get know about the consequences of being so wrapped up in your work as well. The characters themselves are really likeable and you do get some real world aspects from this first issue. The story flows and centers on these guys doing the impossible while the entire world watches, which is big because if this goes right could make them famous.

The artwork by Sean Murphy is gorgeous with detail. Sean Murphy does a great job of capturing the scenes and the look of these characters. Some of the scenes from this title is amazing such as when soldiers begin to march as a little drummer boy looks up as if he scared for his life of what is about to happen. Also, the time travel portions look amazing. Also I love the way the art has a grainy look to it is great. The colors from Matt Hollingsworth really bring it home with many shades at play here. From the time travel jumps and the multiple characters in the scenes, it’s amazing to give so much color to so many characters.

I was surprised how good this first issue was for Chrononauts but it’s Mark Millar, he’s been on a roll of creating some good stories. The story itself is great with likeable characters which flows really well. Sean Murphy does a great artistic job of showing us what’s going on in this issue, creating fantastic scenes of action, and great looking people. Matt Hollingsworth’s colors add a lot more to the visuals. If you like time travel, Sean Murphy, or Mark Millar, this is definitely a great first issue and I can’t wait for the next issue to drop.
