AV Brew – 28 Days Of Black Film | The Green Mile

The Green Mile still moves us to tears.

One of my favorite films is, hands down, The Green Mile, starring Michael Clarke Duncan.

Based on the book by Stephen King and directed by Frank Darabont, The Green Mile follows the relationship between Paul Edgecombe, a corrections officer, and prisoner John Coffey.

A story that is basically King’s take on the crucifixion of Christ, from the guards point of view, the film shows how light can be found in even the darkest of places.

Duncan portrayed the character of John Coffey with such heart, passion, and a keen understanding for who Coffey was supposed to be. He seemed to really understand a mind that thought only of kindness and helping people. I watch this film whenever I need a good cry.
