Gaming Brew: Hyrule Warriors – Age of Calamity
Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity is one of the best hack-and-slash games that I’ve had the pleasure of playing.
As a big fan of the Zelda franchise Hyrule Warriors is an excellent addition to the series, with charming graphics almost exactly matching the previous entry, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. This title also has satisfying gaming controls with the ability to decimate hundreds of familiar foes.
Entering the land of Hyrule 100 years before the events of Breath of the Wild, you are able use the champions you’ve encountered in the previous game as playable characters — even fighting as Princess Zelda herself –with each having their unique combos and visual attacks.

The goal is to stop the calamity that Ganon longs to bring to Hyrule from coming to fruition. With the help of the Divine Beasts (which you are able to pilot), victory doesn’t seem as far away. Also on the hero’s side is a tiny guardian who mysteriously appeared, and who seems to have answers to the future.
Age of Calamity offers unique challenges to overcome for the gamer, and while it is not an open atmosphere like BOTW, the designers flawlessly make the player feel like they are in an expansion of the beloved 2017 title.
Ganon shouldn’t stand a chance, but perhaps he has tricks of his own. I will continue to slash and dash to find out.
