Mortal Kombat 11 Info Leaks Online

Ever since the reveal trailer at The Game Awards this year, fans have been clamoring for any bit of information they can get regarding the upcoming Mortal Kombat 11. Its April 2019 release date just can’t seem to get here soon enough, and there’s just been a pretty big leak over on TestYourMight.com that makes that wait even more difficult. So, without further ado, let’s talk about what’s been leaked into the interwebz about the next iteration of the Mortal Kombat saga.

Roster of Fighters
First off, what is one of the core things that we all look forward to when a new version of an existing fighting game franchise is revealed? That’s right: the roster of fighters we’ll get to choose from! According to the leak, we’ve got some interesting characters to look forward to:

Story
We’ve got our characters, but what about the story? Mortal Kombat has usually had a fairly decent story wrapped within its individual titles, but what is the premise behind this new one? Well, that was part of this leak too, it seems.
According to this leak, dear readers, we may not be seeing Raiden as the primary baddie. Sure, he’ll still be there, but not in the lead antagonist role. That honor, it seems, will go to Kronika – the Mortal Kombat universe’s goddess of time. Her mission is apparently to erase multiple timelines from the universe (hopefully one of which will be the timeline that included Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Sub Zero). This threat will, of course, necessitate the heroes from different realms banding together once again to thwart Kronica’s plans.

Gameplay
The leak also talked about some new gameplay mechanics, which the folks over at NetherRealm are wont to do on occasion. A couple of these threw us for a loop. Starting off, the fan-favorite X-Ray shots won’t occur during pre-made combinations. Instead, Mortal Kombat 11’s X-Rays will happen on random hits. Theoretically, this will give the fight a more fluid feeling, but it may take some getting used to for a lot of us.
What are we getting instead of the X-Ray combos then? Well, it seems that this chapter of the MK saga will be including some Injustice-style Super Combos for each character. If you think about this, though, there’s a good bet that we’ll see a lot more blood, gore, and bone crunching than we did in the Injustice games, since that’s what Mortal Kombat is known for.
In addition to all of this, there is of course the matter of customization and character loadouts that has been talked about quite a bit recently. According to the leak, these are going to be unlockables, which we’ll be able to access by going into the Krypt. The Krypt has functioned as Mortal Kombat‘s version of the in-game shop ever since making its debut in Deadly Alliance.
The leak also indicates that we’ll be getting a chance to play tag teams with our MK characters again. Tag ladders have always been a lot of fun, and many of us can’t wait to see who makes the best team-up.
Finally, the Mortal Kombat series has always been known for its Fatalities – finishing moves in which your character outright kills your opponent, typically in some pretty gruesome fashion. There have also been several variations of these finishers (Animality, Babality, the oft-maligned Frienship, and the recent Quit-ality) over the years. Well, Mortal Kombat 11 looks to be replacing The Quit-ality with Hara-Kiries. Yep, that’s right…it seems that a fighter who wants to quit their match will be able to end their own characters’ lives in spectacular fashion. We’ll have to see if each character will get their own specific Hara-Kiri, though.

While none of this has been officially confirmed by NetherRealm Studios, it’s a good bet that we’ll see at least some of this stuff in Mortal Kombat 11. The game is set to release in April of 2019, and we’re pretty excited to get our hands digitally bloody once again.
