The stakes are high and the action is upped in Ninja-K #9 from Valiant Comics. Ninjak has assembled a team consisting of Livewire, Doctor Mirage and Punk Mambo to fight the evil Coalition. The Coalition consists of operatives who failed MI-6’s Ninja Programme. However, the real threat deals with the Undying One, who has unleashed a demon possessing the body of The Eternal Warrior. Will Ninjak and his team succeed?

Christos Gage tells an epic and violent story. The writing is great and the danger is real throughout the book. There were times while reading this book that I had to stop and catch my breath with everything that was going on. Yes, this is a serious story, but is has some great moments of levity. I also have to compliment Gage on his use of the villains. Yes, they are the typical supervillains, but they were so entertaining. I just love the writing so much.

The art by Juan Jose Ryp is stunning. I just love the way each character looks. Doctor Mirage and Punk Mambo look mysterious and supernatural but at no point do they seem out of place. The action sequences are bloody and violent but they have to be in order to tell the story. Ryp gets to showcase Ninjak in his element doing what he was trained to do. Also, every character gets their big moment in this book and it is glorious.

I have no complaints about this book at all. It is fun and action packed. It delivers!
