Who Is Savitar?

*AUTHOR’S NOTE* This article contains soft spoilers for Season 3, Episode 19 of The Flash. Read at your discretion.

In season 3, episode 19 of CW’s The Flash, we saw a lot of stuff going on. Barry Allen made the decision to run to the future (the year 2024, to be exact), in an attempt to discover the true identity of the self-proclaimed “God of Speed” – known to us as Savitar. What he actually discovered, was a bleak future in which Team Flash had been disbanded by his future self, Caitlyn Snow had fully become Killer Frost and aligned herself with Savitar, Cisco no longer had his powers due to Killer Frost freezing his hands off, Savitar had broken Wally’s back (leaving him in a catatonic & wheelchair-bound state), and future Barry is a mopey, whiney, shell of his former self.

One of the surprise aspects of this episode, and what we’re here to talk about today, is that the end of the episode saw Savitar reveal his true identity to Killer Frost in the year 2017, shortly after she left Team Flash. In true cliffhanger fashion, however, the audience only saw Savitar’s armor open, and Killer Frost’s reaction to the individual inside it. Following this scene, the Twitter-verse exploded with speculation & questions as to the villain’s true identity.

Some believe Savitar to be Ronnie Raymond, some have theorized that he’s really Earth-3’s Jay Garrick, a couple of folks mentioned that he could be Eobard Thawne (although that seems like s stretch), and still others even believe that the armored speedster might be Barry Allen himself from the future.

The CW has confirmed that next week’s episode, titled “I Know Who You Are” will reveal the true identity of The God of Speed. Check out the promo trailer below, then take our poll and let us know who you think Savitar really is!
