“Truth, Justice, and the American Way”: This phrase at one time described Superman as the epitome of American values and strength. Over the years as other characters came along, many redefined what it means to be an American. Some are industrious (such as billionaires Bruce Wayne and Tony Stark) who use money and technology to further advance American technical prowess.  Then, you have others like Peter Parker aka Spider-man, whose triumphs and failures are relate-able to the average Joe.  Finally, you have people like Lex Luthor and Wilson Fisk, who will use any means available to get ahead.
