I couldn’t stop smiling throughout this issue as the whole crew takes on Ares, who attempts a kidnapping (of Steve) and some mind rape (of Steve and Diana). Everyone’s on their game, and playing to their strengths as they think on the fly to deal with an actual god in their midst. It’s fantastic and fun, and, at times, disturbing as the gang truly is outclassed on every level. Rucka manages to give each character their moment to shine though and it’s glorious.

Nicola Scott and Romulo Fajardo Jr. give us some phenomenal artwork. Every sequence is breathtaking, each character moment emphasized by wonderful compositions and colors. Lush backgrounds and attention to detail make you feel like you’re in the midst of the action.

This is a beautiful finale to Year One that sets the stage for the next chapter of the Wonder Woman saga.

Five out of Five Patrons.
