Yes, you read that right. Attack on Titan has FINALLY received an actual release date: February 2017.
The Spring 2013 anime skyrocketed to colossal heights (yes that is a pun, shut up) with its razor-sharp animation, exciting action, and general “humanity is good and we can defeat anything we like” motif. Not to mention that killer opening theme. I swear they squeezed every possible instrument into that thing.
The original manga, however, has been going since 2010 and is still in production with 20 volumes in existence as of this writing. Season 1 of the anime only covered volumes 1-8 and fans of the manga have been drooling for more.
This season will reportedly cover the “Clash of the Titans” and “Uprising” arcs. Followers of the manga will know what that means, but to avoid spoilers, I’ll only say this much: Remember the Colossal and Armored titans? Yeah, we finally see more of them, plus an insane new human/titan hybrid known in the manga as the Beast Titan. We also get into some of the nitty-gritty (read: unnecessarily convoluted) past involving royalty, treachery, and guns.
And yes, plenty more fights to come, which means more cameras careening through the streets, more ODM gear shooting people through the sky, and more blades spinning like giant whirlwinds of pain.
Will you be watching? Did you get sick of the first season?
