‘Deadpool 2’ has lost & found a director

In case some of you are not following movie news, you may not have heard that Tim Miller recently dropped out of the production of Deadpool 2, over creative differences with producer (and star) Ryan Reynolds. According to The Wrap, Reynolds wanted to keep the film’s style true to the original, with it being raunchy, fourth wall-breaking, and what audiences have come to love as a faithful adaptation of the comic, while Miller had the idea to take the project in a more stylistic direction. According to another report, the break between Miller and the Deadpool 2 project was amicable, and he will be diving headfirst into another project with Fox.

As much of a blow as that might’ve been for fans who are nearly frothing at the mouth to see what the sequel has in store for our favorite Merc with a Mouth, all is not lost. Fox Studios has apparently found a new person to take a seat in the director’s chair: John Wick director David Leitch.

Since Leitch had already been in talks with the studio to direct a movie adaptation of another comic book – X-Force – he was given the go-ahead by Fox to helm the Deadpool sequel. In the past the director has been involved as a coordinator on films such as Tron: Legacy and Speed Racer.

Rumors have also been swirling that Morena Baccarin may not be back as Wade Wilson’s love interest in the sequel, but instead the film may offer up a new female lead familiar to fans of the comics: Domino. According to Variety, there are currently 10 actresses who are testing for the role of the on-again-off-again partner to our antihero. On the list are: Kelly Rohrbach, Sienna Miller, Stephanie Sigman, Mackenzie Davis, Lizzy Caplan, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Ruby Rose, Eve Hewson, Sofia Boutella and Sylvia Hoeks.

What do you think about the new director & possible casting news, dear readers? Would you like to see a Deadpool/Domino team-up in the sequel? Let us know in the comments!
