Cosplayers, rejoice

Two new patterns were recently added to the new line up of from the McCall’s collection for cosplay, with one that definitely caught me by surprise.

Pattern #M2081, which you can purchase here for $15.95 plus shipping and handling,  is a new pattern that offers a gorgeous long and short version, that can be accompanied with detachable sleeves with obi variations. In the photos, you see the long Kimono has amazing appliquéd fabric flowers that are attached to the kimono with a type of embroidery known as couching. They’ve even gone the extra step to include tips on couching as well as the different types of thread you can use depending the character you would like to portray.

The shorter Kimono features different fabric combinations with the detachable sleeves paired with a ribbon tie so they can comfortably fit any arm.

The obi styles are completely different which opens up so many more cosplay opportunities. This pattern is listed as easy, but if you know your way around a sewing needle, you can easily mix and match these two to mimic the obi you want or keep them as is.

Also included in this packet, is a pattern for a plain white undershirt, which is a traditional garment that’s worn with a kimono.

With only using a piece of this pattern or fully utilizing all of it, there are a plethora of outfits from anime and manga alike that this can cover.  The possibilities are endless.
