Ghost in the Shell cast photos possibly leaked.
Recently, a leaked photo from the set of next year’s Ghost in the Shell live action adaptation, showing Scarlett Johansson in character as The Major (aka Motoko Kusanagi), and Pilou Asbæk in character as Batou, was posted on some Asian movie sites.
Just this morning, however, other photos of the rest of the main & supporting cast in their character costumes & makeup appear to have been leaked online. These look like they could be from screen, wardrobe, or makeup tests, and break down who may be playing the roles of the rest of Public Security Section 9. These photos are still unconfirmed, but they have been popping up on some major websites in Asia (such as Apple Daily).

As fans of the Ghost in the Shell anime already know, Ghost in the Shell is set in the fictional Japanese city of Niihama, and Section 9 (led by Chief Daisuke Aramaki) is the intelligence agency in which The Major works. The story revolves around a post-cyberpunk iteration of a possible future, in which computer technology has advanced to the point that many citizens possess “cyberbrains”; technology that allows them to interface their biological brain with various networks. The level of cyberization can vary from minimal interfaces, to almost complete replacement of the brain with cybernetic parts. In addition, varying levels of prosthetics can be applied to the body. In some cases, the body is completely replaced, enabling a person to become a cyborg. This tech, however, also opens up the possibility of the cybernetics being controlled by highly skilled hackers.
Having experienced a terrible accident as a child, Major Motoko Kusanagi is someone who has become a cyborg. Now working as part of Section 9, her job is to hunt down the hackers who would attempt to gain control of those who have these high levels of cybernetics in order to use the citizenry for nefarious purposes.
Ghost in the Shell is currently in post-production, and is slated for release in March of 2017.
