PlayStation Plus prices are about to go up.

It looks like PlayStation Plus subscribers are about to start shelling out more money for the plan.

Starting on September 22nd, all current & new PS Plus members will pay upward of $60 USD per year for the service.

According to a recent update on the PlayStation blog, the new price breakdown is as follows:

  • One year’s subscription will rise to $59.99 (up from $49.99/year)
  • Three months’ subscription will rise to $24.99 (up from $17.99/year)
  • One month’s subscription will remain the same at $9.99

The price hike will take effect for current subscribers once they renew their accounts, which will be the first time that they’ve been expected to pay more for the service – subscriber prices have remained stable since PS Plus initially launched back in 2010.

In what seems like a preemptive response to subscriber questions & concerns, the writers of the PlayStation blog simply told their audience that the price increase “reflects the current market conditions while enabling us to continue providing exceptional value to our members”.  The statement went on to say that if subscribers were unhappy with the price increase and no longer wanted to continue their subscriptions, they should “be sure to cancel it by turning off auto-renewal in your account settings before September 22, 2016”.
