Ever since it was revealed that the character of Superman/Clark Kent would be joining the CW show ‘Supergirl’, rumors & theories have been flying around as to who would be cast for the iconic role.
Well, theorize no longer. IGN broke the news today, that the role would be played by Tyler Hoechlin, who first captured the public’s eye by playing Tom Hanks’s son in 2002’s Road to Perdition, later in MTV’s Teen Wolf, and also in this year’s Everybody Wants Some. Executive producer Andrew Kreisberg gave a statement about the casting, in which he is quoted as saying, “Greg [Berlanti] and I have wanted to work with Tyler for ages, so this worked out perfectly because Tyler is Superman. We are so thrilled and humbled to add another amazing actor to the legacy of this iconic character.”
It looks like the beginning of season 2 will see Clark Kent/Superman visiting his cousin Kara (played by Melissa Benoist) in National City. Whether the two superheroes will team up remains to be seen.
Season 2 of Supergirl airs on the CW on Mondays at 8/7c this Fall.
