Gang Of Douchebags, Enter Stage Left

Remember how Leanne kept being a jerk and doubling the prices for everything in her store when the cordon went up? Yeah, that comes back to bite her, big time, twice over. First, the redneck stereotypes come back, with way more guns, to raid the store. However, they get outgunned by a local gang, who are much smarter than RS guys. See, they get inspired by Leanne and decide that she’s on the right track, and since she’s got everything set up, they might as well use it. This becomes a problem when Sabine arranges a food drop, and Jake, who is now down to 7 officers, has to distribute the food to 3000+ people still left alive within the cordon. It goes about as well as you would think and Jake’s day starts off really terrible. And it’s only about to get worse.

Huh….

Katie, armed with gossip that the children overheard, realizes that Saunders was infected before Sayid, but she can’t prove it. Katie goes to Jake, whose problems multiply when one of his men gets infected and then shoots himself in front of him, and tells him what she knows. Here’s the thing, this scene? Pretty much nailed the coffin shut on any ability I might have to care for Katie. Yes, she’s right, some weird shite is going on, but much like Leo in the last episode, her utter inability to show even a modicum of empathy for the fact that Jake, unlike her, has been out in a warzone all day makes me want to smack her in the face. Repeatedly. With a bludgeon.

Katie is the effing worst.

I Did Not See That Coming

Before Katie goes and word vomits all over Jake she hits up Cannerts, who is becoming increasingly desperate to find a cure. Unfortunately, his desperation might be due to the fact that he created the virus in the first place. It’s ambiguous at best, but the implication is there. However the biggest surprise is Chief Besser, who’s been very cleverly playing Lex and Sabine off each other since episode one, and who knows way more than previously thought about what’s going on.  

Status Report
