Movie Review: Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Road Chip

Party, Party, Alvin! I Have always loved these furry little guys, the squeaky voices, the comedy, and the all around cuteness. My family, alike, even made our version of the Chipmunks “Christmas don’t be late”, with pitching our voices to sound like the Chipmunks. So seeing these movies can be fun, but mostly sad watching the characters in awful movies.

Party, perhaps, but mostly spacing out into the small audience for a reaction. The kids did seem to enjoy the upbeat music that the Chipmunks always provide. “Uptown Funk” was definitely the favorite. The storyline was there, but revolved around the misunderstandings of a possible marriage of Dave and Samantha. Samantha has an abusive son Miles, abusive to the poor lil chipmunks. The fear of having Miles as a step Brother naturally brings pure horror into the chipmunks so that they must have a music filled “Road Chip” to Miami to stop the engagement. Luckily they only have 3 days to do so.

There are certainly shenanigans along the way and some airplane issues when they are able to get themselves kicked off. The Chipettes show up for a little musical fun but it was just for filler. My personal reaction, they should have stopped at #2.

If you are interested in this movie, wait till you can rent or save for the babysitter to watch with your children.
