PCU presents: Star Wars Cosplay Showcase

I have loved Star Wars since I was 7.   Way back then the best we could do for lightsabers was whatever sticks we could get our hands on and we made do.  Fast forward 30+ years later and I knew people did cosplay but never did I know that costuming had come such a long way that people were creating their own screen accurate Star Wars costumes as well as their own variants.

I went to my first comic convention in Baltimore and I was flabbergasted and it was then I decided to tackle my own Star Wars cosplay and thus my first cosplay that I wore to a convention was Darth Dredd…yeah I know, not a creative name but I was happy to do this!

My wife also came along for the journey as well.

Over the years I have been to many conventions and met many cosplayers and have seen some wild and wonderful costumes in these past 5+ years.

In the years since I have been into cosplay and photography,  I have seen what can be done to bring the fandom together.  Groups such as the 501st and the Rebel Legion have put their cosplaying skills together to do community service, others have done fan film and so much more.  Many of us who grew up loving Star Wars found a whole new way to express ourselves in a way that has brought us closer to emulating our favorites characters.

With The Force Awakens film on the horizon, we asked cosplayers to show their love for Star Wars.  We got responses from all over not just the US but Europe; cosplayers from different walks of life and skill levels and we would like to thank those who submitted their pictures.  Frankly I am amazed how many people, like myself, have walked on the Dark and Light side of the Force!

If you never tried a Star Wars cosplay, hopefully these pictures will inspire you to give it a try.
