Aspiring Artist Spotlight: Asia A!!

Asia is an aspiring artist from Westminster, MD. She is currently in Middle School and recently attended her first comic con in Baltimore.
1. At what age did you realize your love of art?
Well, I started drawing when I was six years old so I have to say six. I probably didn’t understand how amazing art was at the age, I most likely just thought it was good fun. Maybe a couple years later when I started understanding things more clearly that I realized that drawing was my passion.
2. What are some of your favorite characters to draw?
Gosh, I don’t even know where to begin with this. I guess I could start with the most recent people I’ve been drawing. I shouldn’t say people, because they’re not people, they’re bears. So, yeah, Ice Bear, Grizzly, and Panda from We Bare Bears. My friends would be up on my top five list of some of the favorite characters I like to draw. It lets me show them how much I care for them. Next, I guess would be any characters from TV shows I watched when I was a child. Shows like, The Power-puff Girls, Chowder, Invader Zim, Hey! Arnold, SpongeBob, and those are just a couple. I also enjoy drawing characters from TV shows and movies from today, such as We Bare Bears (as I stated earlier), Penn-Zero Part Time Hero, Star vs the Forces of Evil, Penguins of Madagascar (the movie), Big Hero 6 (movie as well). I also love drawing video game characters, like Princess Peach or Kirby. And finally, my OC’s, and OC just means Original Character, so like a person I made out of my creativity and imagination. There’s many other characters I think to draw, but I don’t want to write too much for this question.
3. Who are your favorite artists/cartoonists?
I don’t think I really have a favorite artist/cartoonist. Sounds funny coming from an artist, but usually when I get to the end of a show or movie, I don’t really watch the credits. That said, if I can I will try to catch the names of the cartoonists or artists for the shows or movies I watch.
4. How would you describe your style of drawing?
My style of art is more on the childish or cartoony side. I have tried different styles before, but most of they don’t fit my taste, so I stick to a cartoony style. My style also isn’t that detailed and not everything I draw will be accurate, but oh well, everyone makes mistakes.
5. Would you like to make art your career someday? What are some of your other interests?
Yes, absolutely. I would love to have art as my career. It’s my passion and I cannot let it go. I can’t even go a couple minutes without seeing art or drawing it. I plan on going to an art college once I graduate high school. I would most likely be in an art college for two to three years and I might be an art teacher for awhile. Selling my art online on websites is also another way to make an income and it would be fun because it would let me know people like my art. In all honesty, I don’t really have any interest besides drawing. Does obsessing over bears count? I hope so. But, I guess writing is also something I like to do and most of the teachers I have had said that I got a talent at writing. I could also combined both those skills together and make a graphic novel, which would be a great idea in the future.
