Scream Queens Episodes 1 &2

I’ve heard of Scream Queens a couple times but didn’t really give it much notice. After looking into seeing what it’s all about, I was intrigued to see if this show was worth a watch. Now after watching the first two episodes, I didn’t really like it that much.

Scream Queens follows Chanel Oberlin who is the leader of Kappa Kappa Tau played by Emma Roberts and her group of followers. Chanel Number Two played by Ariana Grande in a special guest role, Chanel Number Three played by Billie Lourd, and Chanel Number Five played by Abigail Breslin. It’s more like Chanel and her various lipsticks. Roberts does a good job in the role that she is given being a bossy, self-centered and mean-spirited person that pretty much hates everyone on the show. She is pretty ruthless as well and gets into a sticky situation at the beginning of episode one. She does show some humility, but it’s barely there. Jamie Lee Curtis plays Dean Cathy Munsch, who threatens the Kappa house which goes back to a mystery in the Kappa house’s past. As the Dean Munsch changes things for KKT, it leads to the introduction of the new members to the Kappa Kappa Tau sorority. Some of the new members are Skyler Samuels as Grace, Keke Palmer as Zayday, Lea Michele as Hester Ulrich. I can tell most of the other characters will be done in by the killer.

Since the first two episodes were shown together but we do get some kills and a standard plotline of who the killer is and mystery of what happened twenty years prior. The kills themselves were very clean and had barely any blood. I’m surprised though by the lack of blood. The way the old maid was killed was pretty gruesome and that some nice effects on how her skin just peels off like that. The encounter where the killer is about to kill Chanel Number 2 was bad and why text the killer when you could have called the cops or someone. I know the show is more comedy than horror, but the show is like a bad horror comedy. Emma Roberts and Jamie Lee Curtis are probably strongest actors in the two episodes although Jamie Lee Curtis doesn’t really appear much in both episodes compared to everyone else. I can tell that when episode two ended that I’ll probably won’t be watching this going forward. I just didn’t like most of the characters and Scream Queens comes off as a bad comedy with some poor horror tropes thrown in.

Overall this is not a good show and anyone should avoid it. I like comedies and horror, but this show is just terrible. The acting by some characters are decent, the kills themselves were okay, and the plotline just comes off like a bad version of Scream. Some people may like it, but it’s just not for me.
