Fan Film Review: Star Wars Legends- Legacy of the Force
This just-released fan film is adapted from the Star Wars novel “Invincible” by Troy Denning, one of the later novels written in the Original Expanded Universe. The film follows Jaina Solo, who must fight her twin Jacen (now Darth Caedus) Solo as the 2nd Galactic Civil War comes to a close.
This film, for the short 20 minutes duration, had me wishing for a full length feature. It’s also one of the very few that brings to life the Original Expanded Universe in such a way that it made me want to take the book off the shelf to see how closely they got to the source. However, I caution viewers who have never read the Legacy of the Force storyline: you may not have any idea of what’s going on or why the Solo children are fighting each other.
Outside of that, the production value is high and the acting of Tye Nelson (Jacen Solo/Darth Caedus) and Jaci Twiss (Jaina Solo) are on point. My only disappointment was that the ending seemed to be cut a bit short. (Spoiler Alert) The twins bonded again for a brief moment before Jacen’s demise, and I felt like that point was really missed, unless there is more coming. However, with everything else that this fan film had to offer, I found the whole thing to be very enjoyable.
This is a must watch.
