The Comic Book Hearsay – July 8, 2015
(Editor’s note: This is a new segment we would like to run here. As many collectors like to try and find value in comics, we want to say that nothing is guaranteed. With that in mind however, it’s always fun to speculate what other people are interested in. Please let us know if you enjoy this segment and we will keep it going as long as possible. Big Shout out to the gang in the Comic Book Lovers group for this segment)
Each week, this crew will be putting together a list of books that few of the residents of Comic Book Lovers are picking up and/or may be thinking are books that are getting hot and deserve a look at. Please remember that while Comic Book Speculation can profitable, it’s all opinion and meant for fun. We have no abilities to know how exactly the mkt. will react and this is something we like to have fun with. With that said onto this week’s picks.

This Week’s Picks:

Batman #42

Walking Dead #144 (Retailers were told to double their order for this issue)
Speculator Tip: Don’t spend all your money on comics. Now with that comes this. Issue 144 of TWD (The Walking Dead) is going to be a key issue. I don’t know exactly what the price will inflate to since retailers were told they should bump up their orders, but as of this Hearsay being released, they aren’t even on shelves yet and should be cover price unless your LCS is shady as a great oak tree. Here is what I think is going to happen since I am a reader of the series, people are going to die!!!! They won’t normally call for a 1st appearance so I am assuming at least 1 person is going to die if not, a small group, and my bet is on Ezekiel. He just seems done, and I think to prove to Michonne he’s worth a damn he’s going to do something really stupid and wind up dead. I have been hoping for Rick to kick but it seems they have been setting him up for another long arc, so it would be a surprise if he gets offed. I really have no idea but this is just my 2 cents of what I think.

This week’s picks:

Strange Fruit #1 of 4

Creature Entertainment: The Gun #1
Back Issue Pictacular: Postal #1 We have talked about Postal quite a few times on here. It is a great book, we love it. If you have not already picked it up, now is the time. There are murmurs of a movie deal, TV show, or something in the works. You know what that means? An issue #1 Price jump. So, get it now while you still can. Some local shops still have copies available at cover price. On eBay, you should be able to pick up issues 1-4 for around $15+ shipping.

This week’s picks:

Injustice Gods Among Us Year 4 #5

Suicide Squad #10
Back Issue Behemoth Tip: Not recommending you do it but if you’re going to speculate and spend BIG MONEY on a comic book in hopes of flipping it one day I’d say make sure it’s a first appearance with the character on the cover. (X-Factor #6 or X-Men #266 are good examples of this) That’s very bold and anyone who’s not into comics can see it and easily tell it’s a first appearance… I think it’s those types of books that people who aren’t into comics that much will not research like they should and really drive the price up even more.

This Week’s Picks:

Lando #1

Invader Zim (Hastings or Gamestop Variant $15+shipping on Ebay)
Back Issue Grab: Captain Marvel #1 Vol. 1 still has plenty of room on that book to grow. It is still one of the few lower priced cool hero books. Almost for certain we will be seeing some incarnation in the movies sooner than later and eBay prices for a CBCS 9.4 sold on Jun 10th for $317.80
As always, please remember speculation is mainly for fun, hopefully though we all make a little money as well.
