My LA Cosplay Con 2015 Experience!
On June 11th, the Hyatt Regency Century (Los Angeles) Hotel exploded with cosplay madness! LA Cosplay Con spared no expense, and did there best to make sure guest felt safe and had a good time. Vendors and artist greeted guest and displayed their work, or sold prints for charity.
There was a panel of famous Youtubers sponsored by Epoxy TV which discussed the highs and lows of becoming a certified “YouTuber,” and the business side of creating content online.
The topics included, starting your channel, maintaining viewership and how to garner Youtube success into more traditional forms of media.
I got a chance to interview panelist Swoozie and pick his brain about how to make youtube into a profitable business. You can listen to the short interview here:
The highlight of the con was the cosplay fashion show contest. Guest judges included Holly Wolf, Lauren Bregman, and Paola Alexandra . Winners were determined in various categories including:
Best Cosplay
Best Villain
Best Kid Cosplay
Winners received gift cards ranging from $50-$300, so no one really left empty handed.
To top off the night, the LA Cosplay Con threw an after party for guests to dance and mingle. There was also a live band performance by SongHammer and music by DJ Galactic Ray
Overall, I thought LA Cosplay Con 2015 was a well organized, safe, and fun fan event. Everyone I met was very friendly and helpful, while celebrity guests were very supportive. This was a very welcoming environment. No matter what race, shape, size, or costume, all are welcome.
