TV Talk: Jon Bernthal To Portray The Punisher on Daredevil Next Season
Actor Jon Bernthal of “The Walking Dead Fame” Joins Season 2 of Daredevil
Marvel Entertainment announced today that Jon Bernthal will join the season two cast of the Netflix original series “Daredevil”. Bernthal has built an extensive resume with roles in “The Walking Dead”, “The Wolf of Wall Street”,” Fury” and the soon to be released “Me and Earl and the Dying Girl”. Now he will add to it by portraying the Punisher himself, Frank Castle. Like our vision impaired hero, Matt Murdock aka Daredevil (Charlie Cox), Castle aims to clean up the streets of Hell’s Kitchen. Unlike Daredevil, The Punisher will use any means necessary to achieve his goals.
As seen in his role as Shane on AMC Networks “The Walking Dead”, Bernthal brings a focus matched by few of Hollywood’s finest actors.
“Jon Bernthal brings an unmatched intensity to every role he takes on, with a potent blend of power, motivation and vulnerability that will connect with audiences,” said Jeph Loeb, Marvel’s Head of Television, in a statement. “Castle’s appearance will bring dramatic changes to the world of Matt Murdock and nothing will be the same.”
The Punisher has been a fan favorite in the Marvel universe for years but his leap to the big screen has been less than successful. Netflix will allow the character to flourish in all of his chaotic glory.
Season 2 of Marvel’s “Daredevil” will be available streaming on Netflix in 2016.
