PCU thanks those who came to help Baltimore on FCBD
On Saturday, comic fans, casual readers and even new fans alike got together for Free Comic Book Day. All across the country, comic retailers use this opportunity to purchase books to give away to the public in hopes of keeping up or drawing in new interest.

This weekend in Maryland, this was a lot more for us. After a week of unrest in Baltimore, we put out a call to our general community to help get aid for those who are in need in areas affected by the riots in West Baltimore. What happened was extraordinary and it saddens me that as much as the media has covered everything else that was negative, nobody was there to cover something so positive as people giving back. FCBD allowed us to use many comic book shops such as Collectors’ Corner, Third Eye Comics, The Amazing Comic Store, Comic Logic, the CosLove Initiative and a few others to be able to take in donations. Many people from all walks of life pitched in for the effort as we have received packages from places as far as West Virginia, North Carolina, and Minnesota.

We are very proud in the fact that when all was said and done, from a simple call for help, the action that everyone took resulted in 3 loads of supplies being taken to Bethel AME Church which is located not far from the areas affected. We want to thank everyone who got involved and did so in a selfless manner. We are grateful to see that when it was time to look after home so many stepped up. We are hoping that more can be done but for now, this was a big step forward to help those that need.

We at PCU cannot take all of the thanks. We put out the call. The thanks goes to those who pitched in when needed.
