*AS ALWAYS BE MINDFUL THAT THERE WILL BE SLIGHT SPOILERS, READ AT YOUR OWN PERIL!!**
Wow, where does the time go? It’s almost August already and soon it will be time for the Baltimore Comic Con as well as the New York Comic Con, so let’s talk comics, shall we?
Superior Spider-Man Team Up #1
So hopefully you read the last two issues of SSM as they establish that now Spider-man has a base of operations, weapons and Gasp!!! MINIONS…yes for real for real minions. Ok, seriously I wanna know how in hell he managed to field an army that quickly to take down Shadowla….oh wait we are supposed to be talking about Superior Team up which really wasn’t exactly that. What we did get was a new suit and OctoSpidey beating the snot out of various Marvel heroes while tracking down Carrion. And the Avengers make another appearance as they are really noting the something is off but no one is really doing anything about it. This book was a quick read and at 4 bucks a pop you kind of feel cheated at getting a really worthwhile story. The one funny panel admittedly was Spider-man punching out Dr. Strange but other than that this book was meh for me.
2.5 out of 5 stars.
…and while we are on the issue of bugs.
Ultimate Spider-Man 25
Ok every now and again, a Bendis exposition book comes along and makes things a bit cool to read so that you can follow along and this is one of those issues. Miles is still having a hard time woth the Great Power Comes Great Responsibilities creed and all those who are around him who knows his secret feel let down especially since they know what happened at the restaurant. We also find out how Cloak and Dagger got made and then of course Jessica Drew reveals who she is to Miles and what they have in common. Is it enough for him to get back out there? Grab this book and read it to find out! It’s hard to believe that we are over the 2 year point but this is probably one of the few Ultimates books that I enjoy reading that I initially thought about not reading
3.5 out of 5
Here is a book I am so torn on right now. 2 of DC’s most iconic characters in one book (I mean duh, World’s Finest?) Written by Greg Pak but what’s killing me is Jae Lee’s art which I am not a big fan of.
So here we are in issue 2 with Batman and Superman in alternate realities with spouses and alive parents and a few little twists and turns about how this all came about and again while the story kept me engaged, Lee’s work kept making me want to check out. One of my friends warned me about him earlier that he leaves a lot of space and he wasn’t joking. The work feels empty and almost like the bare minimum is being given and when action is supposed ot happen, you get such a mess that you may have to look at the panels 2 or 3 times to get it. This book isn’t long for my pull list.
